Mosque collapse kill seven in Northern Nigeria

At least seven people were killed when a mosque in the Nigerian city of Zaria fell during prayers, according to officials.

On Friday, there were hundreds of worshipers present in the structure.

To determine what caused the collapse, an inquiry is being conducted. The local emir informed the media that a crack had been found in one of the walls on Thursday.

The mosque is reportedly older than a century. Building collapses have a long history in Nigeria.

According to a council spokeswoman, Abdullahi Kwarbai, “Four bodies were initially found.”

Then, Mr. Kwarbai continued, “three others were discovered after the rescue team searched the collapsed mosque.”

The building’s crack has been fixed, according to the Emir, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, who spoke to Punch News.
