NPP flagbearer race: Supporters of Kennedy Agyapong decry intimidation tactics

Supporters of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong in the Awutu Senya East Constituency have raised objections to the venue for the November 4 presidential primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The group says the Akweley School Park which is the proposed venue for the elections has witnessed a lot of violence in previous elections hence their protest.

The group has also said the choosing of the venue is a deliberate ploy by some party executives to rig the elections in favour of one candidate.

The group cited the removal of some names from the voter register perceived as supporters of Kennedy Agyapong while also adding fresh names to the register against the directive of the party’s elections committee.

The leadership of the Awutu Senya East constituency for Kennedy Agyapong insists the Akweley School Park venue has witnessed individuals snatch a ballot box during the electoral area coordinators’ elections and is also not the safest venue for the conduct of the elections.

Speaking to Metro News at the sidelines of the press conference, the leader of the group, Bernard Danquah demanded the venue for the elections to be changed adding that the rigging tactics of some constituency executives will not work.

Some members of the group also shared their frustrations on the happenings within the constituency ahead of the elections and have vowed to resist any attempt to intimidate perceived supporters of Kennedy Agyapong and call for a swift intervention of the party’s national leadership to forestall commotion.
