NPP Presidential race: I’m the hope for Ghana’s economy – Dr. Apraku

A presidential aspirant of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, says amidst the current economic turbulence in the country, he is the hope of NPP and the country to fix the mess.

Speaking on Hot Seat on Original TV, Dr. Apraku said the NPP can change the fortunes of Ghana’s economy only if he leads the party in the 2024 polls.

He believes he stands very tall amongst all the aspirants vying for the party’s presidential race.

He added that he is the best person to lead the party on the flagbearership ticket in the run-up to the 2024 polls.

“I have seen systems work, I have done work with the UN, the ECOWAS, and World Bank, I have the exposure and if as a president I need economic assistance from all organizations, I have an excellent chance to get hence the hope of our ailing economy.”

The former three-term Member of Parliament for Offinso constituency in the Ashanti Region, Minister for Trade and Industry in the John Agyekum Kufuor government was part of the seventeen 17 aspirants who contested the flagbearership of NPP in 2007 but polled 19 votes.

Dr. Apraku expressed confidence that his experience places him in a higher position to win the party’s presidential race which will catapult him to leading the country.

Though the dates for flagbearer, and parliamentary primaries for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) are not conclusive yet, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku joins the league of the Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, former Trade Minister, Kwadwo Alan Kyerematen and the former Agric Minister, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto.
