The host of Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV has criticized Ghanaian politicians for their apparent greed in acquiring wealth at the expense of the ordinary taxpayer.
Dr. Randy Abbey voiced his deep disappointment over the conduct of politicians and government officials who are exploiting their positions to acquire lands through unlawful methods.
In his words, “The greed of the political class is what will finish this country and we are nearing there.”
The ace journalist recounted a distressing incident involving an old friend. According to the host’s account, his friend had owned a large parcel of land in the East Legon, UPSA area for two decades. Although the land was walled and had some drainage work done, it remained undeveloped. Shockingly, he discovered that the land was being taken from him and granted to certain state actors with intentions of constructing a private mall.
He divulged that his friend filed a legal suit but despite the court’s order for both parties to refrain from any activities on the land until the rulings were concluded, the opposing party, backed by state security agencies, continued to work on the land.
In response, his friend filed a contempt of court case and sought the his assistance in gaining media coverage for the issue.
Dr. Randy considers these consistent acts of government officials to be filled with greed as he rebukes, “your level of greed is so legendry, there is no conscience”
