Police file application to stop planned demo by Democracy Hub Group

The Police have filed an application at the court and successfully served the organisers of a group identifying itself as Democracy Hub in connection with a planned demonstration within the vicinity of the Jubilee House from Thursday 21st to Saturday 23rd September 2023.

In a statement on Wednesday, September 20, the police urged the public to take note and disregard any calls from any individuals or groups encouraging them to assemble for a demonstration at the Jubilee House.

The police also urged the organisers to respect the due process in the interest of public order and public safety.

Democracy Hub has accused the government of mismanaging the economy and has sought better relief packages for Ghanaians in need.

The protest coincides with Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day, which will be honored across the country.

The protest organizers held a news conference on Tuesday, September 19, to notify their members of the steps put in place to ensure the protest went off without a hitch.

They assured that all required logistical arrangements, including as beds, tents, and mosquito nets, had been made for protesters who wish to spend the night at the Jubilee House over the three-day period.
