A Communication Team Member of the National Democratic Congress, Margaret Ansei, has called for the immediate dismissal of persons involved in the plot to oust the current Inspector General of Police, George Akuffo Dampare.

She also wants all benefits due them to be stripped.

Speaking on Good Morning Ghana, Metro TV’s morning show, Margaret Ansei said such persons should not be among the Ghana Police Service.

“These people must be outrightly sacked, deprived of whatever benefit they are supposed to get to serve as a deterrent to others. I heard COP Alex Mensah speak before the commission and you could clearly see the envy, jealousy, and the competition,” the NDC Communicator opined.

While condemning the act, Margaret Ansei also believes such behaviors are self-inflicted as there are too many positions created to be occupied in the police service.

“The Police hierarchy should be considering the pyramid structure. When you have too many commissioners and after the commissioner where do you go?, you go to the IGP position. The IGP seat is not a bench or queue where a lot of people can sit on, it is just one chair, so when you promote too many commissioners, then you just put one up there, the competition becomes tighter because everybody wants to be there,” she said.

Following a leaked tape involving COP Alex Mensah, Bugri Naabu, and Superintendent George Asare over a plot to oust the current Inspector General of Police (IGP), an Ad-Hoc Parliamentary Committee was established to investigate the matter.
