Sidelining engineers at various assemblies dangerous for Ghana — IET President

President of Ghana Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Ghana has called on the Local Government Ministry not to sidestep engineers at the works department of the various assemblies across the country to ensure quality of works and the safety of the Ghanaian people.

Engineers are responsible for the building, construction and many other services provided across the world. This indicates how important engineers are to the development and well-being of people across the world.

However, it is alleged that engineers at the works department of various assemblies across Ghana, have been sidelined in the execution of developmental projects in the country.

Speaking to the media during the induction ceremony of new engineers into the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Ghana in Tamale, Engineer Boateng said engineers from the works department of various assemblies across the country are being sidelined which he said will be disastrous for the country in the near future.

He has therefore called on the local government ministry to ensure proper collaboration between various institutions within the assemblies to guarantee quality of works and the safety of the Ghanaian people. He also called on the inductees to be professional in their line of duties in order to lift the name and image of all engineers in the country and beyond.

Congratulating the inductees for successfully joining the Institution of Engineers, the Municipal Chief Executive of Sagnarigu Municipality of the Northern Region, Mohammed Yakubu Ahmed said a single mistake of an engineer can cause a lot havock, liking their profession to doctors and pilots.

Speaking to some of the inductees, ING. Joseph Jang-Naa, a police officer, said engineering cuts across every field of development of which the police service is not an exception.
