Sosu has taken bribe to advocate for the abolishment of the death penalty — Obiri Boahene

The Former Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Nana Obiri Boahene has accused the Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency, Francis Xavier Sosu of taking money from some Non-Governmental Agencies (NGOs) abroad to advocate for the abolishment of the death penalty from the laws of Ghana.

Francis Xavier Sosu is a Human Rights Lawyer and has been leading the advocacy in Parliament for abolishing the death penalty in Ghana.

The Madina MP claims Ghana has not executed anybody under the death penalty under the 1992 Fourth Republican Constitution despite having it on its status books for a very long time.

He has also argued that the abolishment will not increase the rate of crime in the country as others have suggested but rather lead to the country getting blessings from the Almighty God.

Speaking on Original News on Original TV, the astute lawyer and former NPP Deputy General Secretary, Nana Obiri Boahene urged Ghanaians to oppose the elimination of the death penalty in the constitution since Mr. Xavier Sosu has taken money to do the bidding of his pay-masters.

He condemned such behavior and further chastised all presidents under the Fourth Republic for failing to sign death warrants for execution.

He, therefore, urged President Nana Akufo Addo to sign death warrants monthly for the execution of offenders to deter others from engaging in such hideous crimes.
