Teacher dies in motorbike accident

A 37-year-old teacher at Assin Abodweseso D/A Primary School has died as a result of a motorbike accident that occurred on the Assin Adadientem-Andoe road in the Central Region.

The accident has also left two others critically injured.

The incident happened at around 7 pm on Monday, January 29, 2024.

According to reports gathered, the deceased, Isaac Arthur, and a pillion rider were heading towards Assin Adadientam direction, when an Okada rider traveling from the opposite direction crashed with them in a head-on collision.

The teacher was pronounced dead by medical officers at the St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu after the accident victims were rushed to the facility by personnel from the Assin South District Police Command.

The pillion rider and the Okada rider sustained severe head, jaw, and leg injuries and are currently admitted for medical attention at the same facility.

Eyewitnesses have blamed excessive speeding by motorbike riders for the rampant accidents on the stretch.

The development has thrown family members of the deceased in a pensive mood.

A member of the family Richard Oboh, told the media that the teacher who contested in the recent district assembly elections left behind a wife and four children.
