Whoever Brought The “Break The Eight” Mantra In NPP Doesn’t Have Sense – KKD

Ghanaian broadcaster Kwasi Kyei Darkwah widely known as KKD has questioned the motive behind the “Break The Eight” mantra currently popular in the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“Breaking The Eight” is an agenda within the NPP to break the 8-year cycle for political parties that wins power since the beginning of the fourth republic.

But KKD who has become a staunch critic of the government in recent times has described the agenda and its originator as lacking sense.

Speaking on Accra-based Radio XYZ, Kwasi Kyei Darkwah explained that the NPP government has woefully failed and hence does not deserve to even think about continuing with the management of the affairs of the country beyond their current term.

According to KKD, almost all the numerous promises made by the government have not been fulfilled and therefore it is unconscionable for them to think about breaking the eight.

Further justifying his argument, he made an analogy that, “imagine you married a wife and during the marriage, you couldn’t buy anything for your wife, she has become dirty and all her clothes are torn, your children you didn’t care of them. You couldn’t take those who were sick to the hospital, and all of a sudden then you want to leave, then a different person comes to marry… then you realize that that is the time you want to do good to her…. Fool, why didn’t you do those things initially?”

“Things that you were supposed to do to break the eight, if you had done it there wouldn’t be any need for a campaign, because galamsey that you bet with your presidency, you people should play the time that the president said that he will put his president on the line to fight galamsey for me, whom are you deceiving here?” he quizzed.

He, therefore, declared that “the person who coined “breaking the eight” doesn’t have sense, you people should mention the name for me, the person does not have sense, we have book sense and common sense..”
