Akuffo-Addo, Jean Mensa threats to Ghana’s democracy — Alhassan Suhuyini

Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini has called out the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo and the Electoral Commission (EC) Chair, Jean Mensah, describing them as threats to Ghana’s democracy.

Speaking on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV, Alhassan Suhuyini says the very democracy which the President and the Electoral Commission claim to protect is rather ripped apart by unprecedented policies formulated to gag its citizenry.

“He (President Akufo Addo) has become a living threat to that democracy with his pliant, Electoral Commission. You have an electoral commission that in the last election, declared the results more than three times, they changed the results that they declared on three different occasions, but for the patience and tolerance of the Ghanaian people, can you imagine if it were to be in another African Country?”he quizzed.

According to the lawmaker, the arrogance and display of abuse of power by the EC has blinded a good decision-making skill in the Commission.

“Instead of working to improve the image of the Electoral Commission, you have the commissioner acting as if she is the best thing that has ever happened to our democracy,” he opined.
