I’m not lobbying Bawumia for running mate position – Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu

Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the Majority Leader, has categorically denied rumors that he is aggressively pursuing selection as Dr. Mahammudu Bawumia’s running mate in the 2024 general elections.

His statement follows a warning from former Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu, who advised the Majority Leader to concentrate on his important oversight duties as the head of government business in Parliament rather than running for the NPP flagbearer’s running mate.

In response to a similar statement made by Governs Agbodza, the Minority Chief Whip, the Suame MP vehemently denied any such ideas and emphasized that he is not actively engaged in a campaign to become Dr. Bawumia’s running partner.

“Mr Speaker, let me state that there is no contest for running mate and I’m not involved in campaigning for the running mate position, it should be loud and clear,” Osei-Kyei-Mensah said on the floor of Parliament on Thursday, November 23.

The minority caucus’s Majority Leader pleaded with them to put aside their speculations and concentrate on the discussion of the 2024 budget statement.
