Kennedy Agyapong pledges to support Ghana’s Paralympic team and Para Sport development

A flagbearer hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, says he will support Ghana’s paralympic team if he wins the November 4 presidential primaries and make the development of para-sport his focus if he is elected president.

Ghana won gold in the first-ever African Para Games, which gave qualification to Athletes in Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Tennis at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, and Amputee Football.

The Amputee Football tournament was hosted in Ghana and saw the Men’s Amputee football team defeat Morocco 2-1 in the final at the McDan La Town Park on September 10, 2023.

As part of efforts to assist the lesser-known sports in the country, Agyapong revealed that he will support Ghana’s Para team and develop the sports to greater heights.

“I believe in sports. It’s not only football but other sporting disciplines. I was very impressed with Ghana in the just-ended Para games hosted by Ghana. I haven’t gotten enough time at the moment, but after November 4th, 2023, I’ll go and donate something to the team and look at ways to promote the sports and areas of immediate improvement. There are so many sporting disciplines we have to promote”, he said in an interview with New Jersey TV.
