Prayer leader arrested for stabbing colleague to death in Bortianor

A man, 40, has been stabbed to death at Bortianor in the Ga South Municipal Assembly of the Greater Accra Region.

The attack occurred right after the Magraheb prayers on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 12, 2024.

The deceased, whose name given to Metro TV is Abubakar, had a misunderstanding with a ‘prayer leader’ at a popular mosque in the community which quickly escalated into a full-blown argument. In the process, the ‘prayer leader’ whose name is still not given at the time of filing this report, was overtaken by emotions, thereby stabbing Abubakar several times, leading to his untimely death.

According to Muhammad Issah, Chairman of the Bortianor Muslims Association, the incident has left the community in shock and disbelief, highlighting the need for swift justice and reconciliation within the mosque’s congregation.

The authorities are now tasked with unraveling the circumstances surrounding the altercation and bringing closure to the grieving community.

Meanwhile, the suspect has been arrested by Police in Kokrobite for further investigations.

The remains of the deceased is being preserved at the Korle-Bu Hospital morgue for autopsy.
