Stakeholders in Northern Region sensitized on benefits of Student Loan Trust Fund

Student Loan Trust Fund has embarked on a community sensitization exercise in the Northern Region.

This is to educate parents and students on the benefits of the fund to needy Ghanaian students.

Many students, especially in the Northern part of Ghana, are unable to continue with their education after Senior High School (SHS) due to financial constraints.

As a result of the high borrowing rates, many families are unable to take loans from banks to finance the education of their wards, baring a significant number of students from proceeding to tertiary institutions after SHS

On the back of these challenges, the Student Loan Trust Fund has launched a nationwide community sensitization exercise to educate parents and students on how fast and convenient it is for every Ghanaian student who needs help to support his or her education after Senior High school.

The Fund engaged chiefs, opinion leaders, and parents in many communities in the Northern Region.

Nana Kweku Agyei Yeboah, Chief Executive Officer of the Student Loan Trust Fund said accessing loans from the fund, became more simpler and faster than before, after the guarantor system, which used to be a stumbling block for most needy Ghanaian students was removed by the government to pave way for every Ghanaian student who’s in need of support to finance their education.

Impressed with the engagement, the Paramount Chief of Lamashegu thanked the government for bringing such a laudable initiative to their doorstep calling on the government to increase the amount of money per student per the fund.
