There’s no diplomatic passport holder named Victor Kusi Boateng – Foreign Affairs Minister

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, has stirred controversy by disavowing the identity of a purported diplomatic passport holder by name Victor Kusi Boateng.

Responding to queries from North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on the floor of Parliament on Friday, March 15, 2024, the Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Minister declared that her office does not recognize Victor Kusi Boateng as a passport holder.

Instead, she asserted that one Kwabena Adu Gyamfi is the holder of the diplomatic passport in question.

At the teething stage of the controversial National Cathedral project, MP for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa claimed he had uncovered dual identity of a member among the imminent board of trustees.

His revelation sparked a row leading to him filing an urgent question to the Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament to haul the Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Minister to the House for responses.

However, appearing before the House, Madam Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey explained that there is no name as Victor Kusi Boateng in the books of the ministry, who is a holder of Ghanaian passport, refuting the claims made by the North Tongu legislator.
