Fear and panic gripped several Ghanaians in Accra and its environs when two earth tremors occurred within the space of two hours on Monday, December 12, 2022.

Some places affected include North Ridge, Gabwe, Haatso, Kwashiman, Teshie, Nungua, Adenta, Circle, Kokomlemle, Mallam, Kaneshie, Achimota, Osu, Ablekuma Manhean, Adabraka, Accra, New Town, Legon, Dansoman, Kasoa, McCarthy Hill among others.

Surrounded by uncertainty, the tremors which occurred around 10: 00 am and 11: 53 am, prompted Ghanaians to register their frustrations on Twitter, pushing the subject to the number one spot on the micro-blogging software application owned by Elon Musk, the world’s richest man.

Some Ghanaians who also spoke to Metro TV Online shared their horrifying experience.

“Oh my God! I thought the end had come. This is serious and I fear for my life,” a woman who gave her name as Precious Mensah expressed.

“I was on the third floor when I heard a quick earth shake. I flee the building,” Akosua said.

Another said,” I can’t believe what just happened. I don’t know how I moved out of the office.”

“This isn’t severe juxtaposed to the earth tremor last year,” said another person identified as Clement.

The Ghana Meteorological Agency in a tweet said their outfit is not set up to provide information on earth movement.

The designated institution was not specified by the Agency.
