‘We’re grateful’ – Oti Region thanks Zoomlion, Local Gov’t Ministry for clearing heaps of refuse

Residents of Kpasa in the Nkwanta North District of the Oti Region say they can now heave a sigh of relief from the fear of possible outbreak of diseases following the evacuation of heaps of refuse causing a nuisance to their health.

The initiative by Zoomlion Ghana Limited in partnership with the Local Government Ministry has brought joy to the people.

For the residents of Kpasa, it is a dream come true that their fear of possible outbreaks of diseases as a result of inhalation of bad stench that runs through the community will be a thing of the past.

Due to the financial consequences, the Districts and Municipalities in the Oti Region were faced with the issue of removing those piles of trash, which had become a public health hazard.

It is appropriate that Zoomlion Ghana Limited took the initiative to remove the waste piles.

The Municipal Environmental Health officer of Krachi  East, Edem Atiase noted the assembly going forward will enforce the law without fear or favor to check the indiscriminate dumping of refuse.

The refuse evacuation exercise in the region took the team to the Kejabi District where one of the oldest heaps of refuse is located.

The team also visited Jaikan Kute and Wurawra to evacuate heaps of refuse that has been there for several years.

It is hoped that beneficiary districts will sustain a clean environment.
